Yabuli Ski Escort
Yabuli Ski Resort is a national AAAA-level scenic area, located 20 kilometers southwest of Yabuli Town in Shangzhi City, Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. It is 193 kilometers from Harbin, 88 kilometers from Snow Town, and 120 kilometers from Mudanjiang, with a branch of National Highway 301 directly connecting to the resort.
Yabuli Ski Resort consists of three mountain peaks of the Zhangguangcai Ridge in the Changbai Mountains: the main peak Daguokui Mountain, with an elevation of 1,374.8 meters; Erguokui Mountain, with an elevation of 1,258 meters; and Sanguokui Mountain, with an elevation of 1,000 meters. Yabuli Ski Resort is also the training base for China’s Antarctic exploration team.
In December 2022, during the launch of the 2022-2023 Ice and Snow Season Harbin Ice and Snow Cultural Tourism Products and the 39th China Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival in Beijing, Yabuli Ski Resort and three other ice and snow cultural-themed digital collectibles made their debut and were introduced to the public for the first time.
Yabuli Ski Resort consists of two main sections: an international-standard alpine ski competition area and a tourist ski area, covering a total area of 22.55 square kilometers.
Alpine Ski Competition Area
The international-standard alpine ski competition area is built on Daguokui Mountain (elevation 1,374 meters), Erguokui Mountain (elevation 1,262 meters), and the 988-meter high ground between Erguokui and Sanguokui mountains. It features 9 alpine ski slopes, 7 cross-country ski trails, 6 ski lifts, a freestyle ski jump platform, a 90-meter alpine ski jump, a biathlon shooting range, as well as facilities like an indoor gymnasium and athlete village. On Sanguokui Mountain (elevation 1,000.8 meters), a large tourist ski area has been built, featuring 11 ski trails for advanced, intermediate, and beginner skiers, with a total length of 30 kilometers. Among them is the 5-kilometer-long No. 5 ski trail, a 5-kilometer circular cross-country ski trail, a 2-kilometer track dedicated to snow tubing, snowmobiles, and sleds, 3 double-seat chairlift gondolas, and 3 tow lifts.
The 3rd Asian Winter Games, held in 1996, catapulted Yabuli to fame, and it gradually developed into China’s largest, most advanced, and best-equipped snow sports venue.
In 2009, Yabuli once again drew global attention as the host of snow events for the 24th Winter Universiade.
Tourist Ski Area
The tourist ski area, also known as Windmill Village, is a world-class ski resort and year-round vacation destination developed and invested in by China International Futures Brokerage Co., Ltd. It is open to visitors from around the world throughout the year. From February 4-11, 1996, it served as the athlete village for the 3rd Asian Winter Games, hosting snow sports athletes from across Asia and tourists from home and abroad.
Yabuli Tourist Ski Resort (a Sino-American joint venture) is China’s first large-scale tourist ski resort built to international standards. It features 15 ski trails for advanced, intermediate, and beginner skiers, and one cross-country ski trail with a total length of 30 kilometers. There are 3 tourist ski lifts and a summer dryland toboggan run (2,680 meters long, imported from Germany), the world’s longest. The resort offers a variety of snow activities, including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, dog sledding, horse-drawn sledding, ice skating on the lake, snowman building, and snowfirework bonfire parties. The resort also has a children’s ski play area and a traditional windmill ski area.
