Jile Temple

Jile Temple is located in Nangang District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. It was built in the twelfth year of the Republic of China (1923). Harbin Jile Temple is one of the four famous Buddhist temples in the three northeastern provinces. It is as famous as Changchun Prajna Temple, Shenyang Cien Temple and Yingkou Surangyan Temple. It covers an area of ​​53,500 square meters and has a construction area of ​​3,000 square meters. It is divided into four parts: the main courtyard, the east courtyard, the west courtyard and the tower courtyard.


In 1981, it was listed as a provincial cultural relic protection unit in Heilongjiang Province. In April 1983, it was designated by the State Council as a national key Buddhist temple in the Han area. In December 2010, it was named the first national advanced collective for creating harmonious temples, churches, and churches by the State Administration of Religious Affairs.

Jile Temple was founded by Master Nengxu, the 43rd generation disciple of Tiantai Sect. The main buildings such as the mountain gate, Heavenly King Hall, Great Hero Hall and Three Saints Hall are distributed on the central axis. The mountain gate is in the form of a memorial archway. Entering the mountain gate, there is a bell tower in the east and a drum tower in the west. In the middle is the first hall in the temple - Heavenly King Hall. Behind the Heavenly King Hall is the main hall - Great Hero Hall.

Behind the Great Hero Hall is the Three Saints Hall. Behind the Three Saints Hall is the Sutra Library. The entire building of Jile Temple is elegant and dignified, magnificent and magnificent, retaining the style and characteristics of Chinese temple architecture. The temple is located in the north and faces the street in the south. The inscription on the plaque of Jile Temple comes from Zhang Jian, a famous industrialist in the late Qing Dynasty. Entering the mountain gate, the first thing you see is the second floor of the bell tower.

 

The temple courtyard is divided into three parts horizontally: the main courtyard, the east cross courtyard and the west cross courtyard. The main building is more than 1,800 square meters, divided into four major halls: the first is the Heavenly King Hall, with Maitreya Buddha in the center and the Four Heavenly Kings on the east and west; the second is the Great Hall, the largest hall in the temple, dedicated to Sakyamuni; the third is the Three Saints Hall, and the fourth is the Sutra Library.

 

In front of the Heavenly King Hall are the bell and drum towers. There are also side halls on both sides of the courtyard. This temple is the largest modern Buddhist temple building in Heilongjiang. There is a seven-story pagoda in the east courtyard.
