Ice and Snow World

Founded in 1999, Harbin Ice and Snow World was launched by the government of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, to celebrate the millennium and take advantage of Harbin's ice and snow season. It is a large-scale ice and snow art project that showcases the charm of Harbin's ice and snow culture and tourism in the northern city.

On January 5, 2024, Harbin Ice and Snow World was recognized as the world’s largest ice and snow-themed park, earning a Guinness World Record and being selected as one of the top ten ice and snow culture cases of 2024. On February 15, 2024, at 24:00, the 25th Harbin Ice and Snow World closed after operating for 61 days, attracting a total of 2.71 million visitors. In July 2024, Harbin Ice and Snow World's four-season ice and snow project was fully launched.

The 25th Harbin Ice and Snow World

With the theme “Dragon Soaring through Ice and Snow, Chasing the Dream of the Asian Winter Games”, the park covers an area of 810,000 square meters, using a total of 250,000 cubic meters of ice and snow. The design combines the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin with the local culture of Heilongjiang and ice and snow culture, creating a world-class ice and snow park for visitors from around the globe. The park integrates ice and snow art, culture, performances, architecture, activities, and sports.

In November 2023, construction began on the 25th Harbin Ice and Snow World, which will be the largest in the event's history. The main tower, called the "Crown of Ice and Snow," stands at the central axis of the park and serves as its focal point. The tower is 43 meters tall, equivalent to a 16-story building, and uses 13,000 cubic meters of ice, making it the largest single ice sculpture in the park. The tower's design reflects the themes of heritage, innovation, and development, symbolizing the revitalization of Heilongjiang Province. The park's popular super ice slide will increase from 8 lanes to 14 lanes.

At around 4:00 PM on December 17, 2023, the 25th Harbin Ice and Snow World lit up nearly a thousand ice and snow sculptures, completed most of its entertainment projects, and opened all the constructed venues for trial operations. At 11:00 AM on December 18, 2023, the park officially opened, and within less than three hours of opening, 40,000 people had booked to visit. However, due to long wait times, some visitors were unable to access popular attractions, leading to calls of “Refund our tickets” on-site.
